In 1915, Guangdong brothers founded a rubber company, which produces rubber tooth support and rubber sole, and is the first rubber manufacturer in China.

In 1934, Shanghai Greater China Rubber Factory began to try to produce automobile tires on the basis of producing bicycle tires. First, the equipment purchased from Japan was tested and produced in Kobe, and then moved back to the domestic formal workshop the following year to produce the first automobile tire in China, named "Double Coin". Two specifications: 30×5 and 32×9, and daily output of 7-9 tires.

In 1951, the first state-owned rubber factory developed bulletproof self-made tires and produced 600 tires for the use by the Chinese People's Volunteers.

The 100th government affairs conference of the Government Affairs Council adopted the <Decision on Planting Rubber Trees>, planting rubber trees in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Fujian. Hainan began to engage in the cultivation and processing of natural rubber jointly by the military and the people in Hainan.

In 1956, the 40th meeting of the Standing Committee of the First National People’s Congress decided to merge the former Chemical Industry Administration of the Ministry of Heavy Industry, the Pharmaceutical Industry Administration of the Ministry of Light Industry, and the Rubber Industry Administration to form the Ministry of Chemical Industry of the People’s Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Chemical Industry). ), appointed Peng Tao as Minister of Chemical Industry.

In 1958, China's self-developed 2,000-ton/year neoprene production facility was completed and put into operation at the Changshou Chemical Plant, producing the first batch of synthetic rubber in China.

In 1960, the Lanzhou Synthetic Rubber Plant was completed and put into operation, producing the first batch of styrene butadiene rubber in China.

In 1964, Shanghai Greater China Rubber Factory developed the first 9.00R20 all-steel radial tire in China.

After successfully trial-produced steel bias tires, Shanghai Greater China Rubber Plant began to explore the development of all-steel radial tires. In the absence of information or ready-made equipment, the technicians used a photo of a radial tire building drum to design and trial-produce the radial tire building drum by themselves, while trial-manufacturing them, while continuously improving them. After many trials and improvements, China's first "Double Coin" brand all-steel radial tire was finally successfully trial-produced.

In 1966, the National Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Petroleum, and the Ministry of Chemical Industry jointly organized a butadiene rubber technical research battle. With the Jinzhou Petroleum Sixth Plant as the main site, they successfully developed the cis-butadiene rubber from butadiene as raw material, and built the industrial unit of 1000 tons / year cis-butadiene rubber.

In 1982, Shanghai Zhengtai Rubber Factory introduced a second-hand equipment production line with an annual output of 500,000 passenger radial tires from Metzler, Germany. With the strong support of Beijing Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute and other units, the "Warrior" brand car radial tires were successfully put into production and successfully passed the certification to supply the Santana car of the Shanghai Volkswagen Automobile Plant.

In 1985, the research and development results of the new technology of butadiene rubber production won the Year of 1985 "Special Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award".

In 1989, the Ministry of Chemical Industry issued the <Measures for Implementation of Determination and Implementation of State Council's Current Industrial Policy Points (for Trial Implementation) in Chemical Industry>, proposing that the current internal chemical industry development sequence is the agricultural support chemical industry, the raw material chemical industry, the fine chemical industry, and the rubber processing industry.

In 1993, the domestic large-scale domestic radial tire production line was completed and put into operation in Shandong Rongcheng Rubber Factory.
Henan Tire Factory's "Eighth Five-Year Plan" national key scientific and technological project "Large-scale Construction Machinery Tires" passed the national acceptance and started mass production, and the product quality reached the international advanced level.

In 1995, the Yanshan Petrochemical MTBE cracking polymerization-grade isobutylene production plant was completed and put into operation, which provided an economical and reliable source of raw materials for the production of butyl rubber. In December 1999, the 30,000 ton / a butyl rubber production unit introduced with technology from PI Company in Italy was put into operation, which ended the situation that China's butyl rubber was completely dependent on import.

In 1996, Yanshan Petrochemical built a 10,000-ton grade solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) production plant, which was the first solution polymerization styrene butadiene rubber plant in my country.
In 1999, Tianjin Tire Company developed large-scale agricultural radial tires in accordance with market demand. Using domestic technology, after nearly a year of research and trial production, the first "Dolphin" brand 12.4R28 agricultural radial tires were successfully rolled off the production line, , which opened a new way for the meridian of domestic agricultural tire. By 2014, there were about 4 enterprises producing agricultural radial tires, with a production of 37,000 sets.

In 2002, Shanghai Tire & Rubber (Group) Co., Ltd. Double Coin Truck Tire Co., Ltd. used the technology of radial truck tires to independently research and develop the first "Double Coin" brand engineering machinery radial tire 14.00R24-20PR (tubeless), and opened the pioneer of domestic construction machinery radial tires.

In 2008, the project of complete set technology and equipment development of radial tire jointly completed by Shandong Triangle Group Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Saixiang Technology Co., Ltd. won the first prize of 2007 National Science and Technology Progress Award.
Lanzhou Petrochemical Company's 100,000-ton/year styrene butadiene rubber plant started commissioning test run. This was the largest scale of domestic production completely relying on its own technology to build a styrene butadiene rubber plant.

China's first "Three-Ring" brand of radial tire has successfully passed the dynamic tests stipulated by national standards, and has reached the requirements of loading. China had become the fourth country in the world capable of R & D, manufacturing and testing of aviation radial tire. In the same year, a domestically-produced aircraft equipped with tires of this specification made its first flight.

In 2009, the styrene-butadiene rubber production plant constructed by Sinopec Qilu Branch was put into operation. The total annual production capacity of the entire plant’s styrene-butadiene rubber plant reached 230,000 tons. It was the largest styrene-butadiene rubber production base in China at that time. The plant all adopted domestic technology. .

The largest joint venture project between Central Asia and Central Asia, jointly funded by China Bluestar Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group Co., Ltd. and Armenian Elite Company, 30,000 tons/year neoprene production plant produced qualified neoprene product SN232.

In 2015, a thousand-ton hydrogenated nitrile rubber plant was completed and put into operation in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, ending the history of hydrogenated nitrile rubber dependent on imports. China became the world's third country with independent intellectual property rights to industrially produce hydrogenated nitrile rubber.
