On August 13, the kick-off meeting for establishing the "Coated Puncture Self-sealing Tire Evaluation Standards" organized by the Rubber Testing Committee of the China Rubber Industry Association (CRIA) was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

In recent years, coated puncture self-sealing tires have begun to enter the tire market, mainly for "car tires." To this end, the National Tire and Rim Standardization Technical Committee organized the drafting of GB/T38510-2020 "Evaluation of Self-sealing Performance of Coated Puncture Self-sealing Tires," which will be implemented on December 1, 2021. The document gives the evaluation technical requirements but does not involve specific requirements for evaluating, which evaluation method is used, the selection of samples, and the use of signs. In order to standardize the sales market of coated puncture self-sealing tires, it is imperative to formulate the group standard.

The promulgation of this standard by CRIA will play a positive role in solving related problems in the development of coated puncture self-sealing tires, effectively restraining quality disputes between manufacturers and consumers, and promoting the healthy development of the entire industry. The draft for comments will be completed before September 16.
