In 2018, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China carried out the “Second Pollution Sources Census of China”. As one of the participating units, CRIA undertook the “Preparation Project Subsidiary Subject of Accounting Methods and Guidelines for Industry Pollution Production and Discharge Capacity of 291 Rubber Products Industry”. This “Second Pollution Sources Census” aimed to find out the basic situation of various pollution sources and establish accounting methods for pollution production and discharge in rubber products industry. Through the field investigation and sampling of seven key enterprises in tire, tube & belt, latex and reclaimed rubber industries, and the collection and analysis of correspondence data of 28 enterprises, experts from CRIA determined that the pollutant discharge in rubber products industry was mainly industrial waste water and industrial waste gas; the waste water was mainly domestic water, such as circulating equipment cooling water in production process and sanitary water for workshop cleaning; and the waste gas was mainly particulate matter and non-methane total hydrocarbons. They also carried out the accounting of pollution production and discharge coefficient of industrial pollution source in rubber products industry, and the final determined production and discharge coefficient would be used as one of the bases for the formulation of China’s future environmental policy of rubber industry. The subject was approved by the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences on December 25.
