From January 30 to January 31, China Rubber Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as CRIA) hosted the expert meeting of Tire Label Technical Committee to discuss the Technical Specification for Evaluation of Green Design Products Auto Tires (Draft), which would be publicized on the media such as China Rubber Website with content improved and was predicted to be jointly published by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and CRIA in March to become a group standard.

A total of over 20 persons from domestic tire manufacturers such as ZC Rubber, Double Coin Tyre, Linglong Tire, Triangle Tire, Doublestar Tire and Pirelli Tire, 3 foreign-funded tire manufacturers including Bridgestone, Michelin and Continental China and certification, scientific research and testing organizations such as EVE Rubber Institute, China Quality Certification Center (CQC), BRDI Rubber Tire Testing Technology and Service Co., Ltd. and CATARC Yancheng Automotive Proving Ground Co., Ltd. attended the meeting.

It is learned that on January 15, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology listed the Technical Specification for Evaluation of Green Design Products of the industries such as auto tires into the revision plan of industrial standards in the first quarter of 2018 (draft) as key recommended standard, which was required to be completed in 2019.

Technical Specification for Evaluation of Green Design Products Auto Tires will replace the group standard of CRIA Technical Specification of Green Tires. On the basis of survey and feedback during 4 years of implementing Technical Specification of Green Tires, new standard improves the limit indexes including rolling resistance and wet grip of C1, C2 and C3 tires as well as the indexes of the enterprises such as resources and energy, comprehensive utilization of resources and emission of pollutants, the enterprises can only reach the standard by “jumping” to make the products more “green” and improve the competitiveness of the labeled products.

The meeting arranged compilation of Technical Specification for Voluntary Authentication of Green Design Products, thus in combination with Technical Specification for Evaluation of Green Design Products, the enterprises could carry out certification of green tires.

The meeting notified the voluntary declaration, posting and implementation conditions of tire label system as well as operation conditions of management data platform. By the end of January, a total of 47 tire enterprises had registered the enterprise information on the management platform and 111 tire labels had been issued for 21 enterprises upon approval.
