Wet Mixing Made Silica Masterbatches Successfully Applied to Tire Production in Bayi Rubber

Recently, through the test of Qingdao Product Quality Supervision and Testing Research Center Rolling Resistance Laboratory, the rolling resistance of tires made of rubber compound through wet mixing of white carbon black by Bayi Rubber Co., Ltd. reached to 4.841N/kN, a 21.94% reduction compared to the rolling resistance of 6.202N/kN for normal tires, indicating that white carbon black masterbatches made through wet mixing can be successfully used for tire production in Bayi Rubber.

White carbon black is said to be effective filler for green tires. However, as the particles of white carbon black have larger specific surface area, high surface free energy and a great number of extremely unstable surface atoms which trend to bond with other atoms, when relatively large amount of white carbon black is put into use, it is hard to be distributed uniformly among the rubber materials by the method of traditional mixing technique. To solve this problem, Bayi Rubber has set up a technical group and worked with well-known manufacturers to develop wet mixing technique used for white carbon black commencing with two aspects of research and development that are green production technology of white carbon black by wet mixing and low rolling resistance green tires.
