On June 8 in Wuhai, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the world-class fumed silica production base with an annual capacity of 8,000 tons built by Cabot Hengyecheng High Performance Materials (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd.

Cabot Hengyecheng High Performance Materials (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. was jointly established by Cabot (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Hengyecheng Silicone Co., Ltd. On September 12, 2016, the two companies signed a cooperation agreement. The two companies made a joint investment of RMB 400 Million Yuan in building a world-class fumed silica production base in Wuhai. This project will be completed and put into operation in the first half of 2019.

This project uses the by-products of organosilicone of Inner Mongolia Hengyecheng Silicone Co., Ltd. to produce high value-added fumed silica, and supplies part of them to Hengyecheng for its development of downstream products and extending its overall product chain of organosilicone. The fumed silica it produces can be used for adhesives, silicone adhesives, composite materials, paint, etc., which are widely applied to fields including automobile, architecture, solar energy, wind turbine blades, food, personal care, etc. This project brings in globally advanced techniques and environment-friendly and cost-effective technologies, which will create an advanced factory within the industry worldwide. In the meantime, the cooperation between Cabot and Hengyecheng Silicone becomes an example of circular economy.
