It is known that connecting rod processing is a bottleneck procedure for vulcanizing machine production, which involves multiple procedures and long cycles. In particular, the number of production scheduling tasks of this Company this year has doubled on a year-on-year basis. Its monthly output has exceeded 30. It is extremely urgent to optimize the connecting rod processing cycle.
Through analysis and argumentation of causes and optimization for several times, the project improvement group replaced the existing welding knife with the new clamping tip tool holder, which reduced time for sharpening. The previous self-made plane knife was replaced by the reverse milling cutter. Procedures of clamp welding, cutting and polishing were all canceled. In addition, two more carrying procedures were reduced, cutting down comprehensive costs of every set of connecting rods by RMB 450 Yuan. Calculating by annually producing 300 vulcanizing machines, it is expected that costs of RMB 130,000 Yuan can be saved for the Company each year. At present, this project has been fully popularized and applied in this Company.
