January 20, 2017, Shanghai - Specialty chemicals company LANXESS Greater China has harvested two awards at the beginning of 2017 – “2016 Best CSR Practice Award” in the 6th China Charity Festival and “Top Responsible Enterprise” in 2016 China Petroleum and Chemical Corporate Citizen Model List, by virtue of its CSR activities in 2016.
“Since its establishment in 2005, LANXESS has been integrating corporate responsibility into the company's development strategy. We are dedicated to contributing to the social welfare through charity activities, and are striving to become a positive role-model for the chemical industry,” said Ming Cheng Chien, CEO of LANXESS Greater China.
During the last 12 years, LANXESS China strives to combine safety, environmental protection, social responsibility and commercial efficiency in its business operations, adhering to the philosophy of “Good for business, good for society.”
Over the past 12 years, LANXESS has offered scholarships to several hundred students in universities and high school, and has been sponsoring the students in Suichuan County, Jiangxi Province, one of the state's key poverty alleviation counties for more than 6 years. In January 2016, LANXESS set up a LANXESS Goodwill Primary School in Zhuxi Village, Suichuan County to provide financial support for both students as well as teachers to ensure the kids there could get proper education.
From 2014, LANXESS held several open day activities at its site communities to share its efforts in environmental protection, safety with the public. LANXESS donated LANXESS chemical kit to a number of primary schools, aiming to help students learning basic chemistry knowledge and to explore chemistry. LANXESS also initiated “Clean Water for Better Life” University Students Research Competition from 2015, aiming at encouraging college students to present their original and inspiring proposals to protect water resources and solve water related issues.
On top of that, LANXESS commits itself to providing an safe and energetic working environment, by insisting on and encouraging compliance with safety, environmental and social standards at its sites worldwide. It actively supports initiatives such as Responsible Care® and the UN Global Compact, and are certified according to international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. With its integrated management system, LANXESS has created a transparent system and set of rules that unite management and employees across national borders, to play the advantages of every employees as well as to develop them. Last year, LANXESS China won “The ASIA BEST EMPLOYER BRAND AWARDS 2016 – 7th Edition”, and was certified as One of the Top Employers China 2017.
The 6th China Charity Festival was held in Beijing on 10th and 11th January. For its outstanding public reputation and brand impact, LANXESS has been awarded “2016 Best CSR Practice Award” through nomination and judging panel’s review. Thus, LANXESS has received awards for three consecutive years at the charity festival, who was also entitled “Best Socially Responsible Company” and “Best CSR Communication Award” at the 4th and 5th China Charity Festival respectively. This year, there were over 800 guests attending the event, and more than 200 media released deep reports about the festival.
In the “2016 Petroleum and Chemical Industry Top 10 News and Industry Influential Figure” selection activity taking place in Beijing on Jan 15th, LANXESS won the title of “Top Responsible Enterprise” for its remarkable performance in social responsibility. The activity was jointly organized by China Petroleum Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) and China Chemical Industry News (CCIN). LANXESS has been on the list for three successive times. In 2013, LANXESS was awarded the individual awards - “Responsible Care Model Award” and “Technological Innovation Model Award”. In 2014, LANXESS was entitled “Top 10 Enterprise”.
