Qingdao, China – Doublestar launched its new “safe tire” under the label Crossleader in December after two years’ development, the company told ERJ.
The tire uses military-level aramid short-cut fibre that provides high impact resistance, and employs nano technology that enables self repair of punctures during running.
“Such fibre is used as bulletproof material in U.S. military,” said the company. “It boosts the sidewall’s anti-puncture performance by 50% and allows it to withstand impact at 100 kilometre per hour.”
“The shield-shaped pattern on the sidewall makes it 6mm thicker than an average tire, rendering the steel cord less likely to break and reducing bulge and blowout by 80%,” the company added.

The safe tire includes most passenger car tire models and will be expanded to cover truck and bus as well as off-the-road tires. New tires are manufactured at Doublestar’s smart plant in Qingdao.
