Cycle Tires: Change in Demand Driving Transformation of Industrial Structure

Through rapid development of over 20 years, especially in recent 10 years, China has become a genuine great producer of cycle tires; during the “12th Five-year”, the industrial capacity expands by 20% compared with that at the end of the “11th Five-year”, the process and equipment technology have new advance and the adjustment of product structure and expansion of international market achieve new progress. Especially, breakthrough in R&D and application of new technology and innovation of operation and management provides new power for stable and rapid development of the industry as well as creates a good situation for future acceleration of transformation and upgrading of the industry and early realization of the target of cycle tire power.

In recent years, the recovery of international economy has been slow and the development of domestic economy has entered a new normal, and domestic motorcycle, bicycle and electric bicycle industry have successively entered the adjustment and transformation stage, with development speed slowing down; affected by multiple factors, the demand of the international market falls after rise, and the trade protectionism of partial area rises. Affected by this, the development of cycle tire industry in recent 4 years shows a trend from being rapid to being mild, and the output and sales volume, export delivery value and realized profit of the industry in 2015 had negative growth, which indicates that cycle tire industry enters the stage of mature development.

According to the statistical data of CRIA, from 2012 to 2014, the cycle tire industry maintained a relatively rapid development momentum on the whole; in 2014, the output and sales volume of the main products in the industry reached a historical peak, it is a milestone in the development history of the industry, which not only further establishes China’s status of great cycle tire producer in the world, but also lays a more solid foundation for domestic cycle tire industry to accelerate promotion of transformation and upgrading and step toward the target of cycle tire power in the world.

New situation and new change in industrial development drive the domestic cycle tire industry to carry out effective adjustment, innovation and upgrading and turn from external development to internal development, drive the products to develop from mid- and low-end orientation to mid- and high-end-oriented development and turn from seeking for growth in quantity to seeking for improvement of quality, and drive the enterprises to turn from expansion of scale to improvement of efficiency, technical content and additional value of product, which is not only the only road for development of cycle tire industry, but also one of the important momentum for promoting industrial development.
