A little over a year ago, Bridgestone broke ground on its first passenger car tire facility in Vietnam. This past week, Bridgestone Corp. hosted a grand opening ceremony for the Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Vietnam Limited Liability Co. (BTMV) plant, located in Hai Phong City.
The grand opening of the 252.5-acre tire plant comes six months after production of passenger car radials began there in April. Bridgestone said the 100% Bridgestone Corp.-owned facility will serve as a key export base of passenger and light truck/SUV tires to Europe, North America and Japan when fully operational.
The facility is expected to produce an initial capacity of 24,7000 tires per day by the first half of 2016 and 49,000 a day by the second half of 2017.
