Beijing (Feb. 6, 2012) – Forecasts show that China will make 483 million tyres in 2012, up by around 6 percent over 2011, according to a report on the website of the China Rubber Industries Association (CRIA).

Meanwhile, the same report said China's industry tyre mould industry is developing rapidly. The article covers the history of the industry in China, starting with the first radial tyre mould produced in 1986 at the Jiedong tyre mould factory in Guangdong Province.

The industry now comprises over 100 mould producers, led by Guangdong Greatoo Molds Inc. and Jieyang Tianyang Mould Co., Ltd. each of whom has turnover exceeding Yuan 200 million annually.

In the next rank, a further 16 companies have annual sales of over yuan 100 million annually. The industry is likely to expand rapidly, as demand for tyres increases, but also as the demand for different types and sizes of tyres increases.

Altogether, the industry made over 456 million tyres in 2011, up by 3 percent on the previous year. Of these, 398 million were radial tyres, and of those 90.5 million were all-steel radial truck tyres.

A key focus for the Chinese industry is to build brand strength, said the report.
