Fewer firms seek DOT tire plant codes
Requests for new Department of Transportation tire plant identity codes, required for selling passenger and truck tires in the U.S., fell to just a dozen in 2012.
The DOT reported 61 codes issued in 2011, and 22 in 2010.

Goodyear planning to close northern French tire plant
Goodyear is preparing to close a French plant employing 1,250 workers near the northern city of Amiens, a French government official is quoted as saying on 25 January by Reuters.
According to Le Monde, the closure plan is to be presented at a 31 January works council meeting.

Global natural rubber consumption is expected to rise by 5.9% to 11.6 million metric tons in 2013, according to the latest report by the International Rubber Study Group.

Recently, Jiangyin Haida Rubber and Plastic Co. planed to purchase 100% stake of Jiangyin Xinghai Engineering Rubber Co. for RMB 4.62 million yuan of its own funds. After this acquisition, Xinghai Engineering Rubber becomes Haida Rubber's wholly-owned subsidiary.
